7 Celebrities That Use Effective, Drugstore Skincare!

Not surprisingly, many celebrities lie to us about the skincare they use – or at least they don't tell the whole truth. Even though we see them talking about products worth hundreds of dollars in their Vogue “Get Ready with Me” routines, the products they truly use might be totally different. Some of these products are even from drugstore brands!

So, let’s talk about the drugstore skincare that celebrities love. Here are 7 celebrities that use effective. drugstore products.

Gwenyth Paltrow

Gwenyth Paltrow uses a UK-based, drugstore brand named Weleda. Weleda has some great products and it is available in the US too. Gwenyth uses the $15 “skin food moisturizer.”

She has openly stated how much she uses this. But, on her website, GOOP.com, she has all of these insanely expensive products. Why aren’t we able to find any affordable moisturizers on her website like Weleda’s skin food cream?

Weleda Skin Food Original Ultra-Rich Cream

This is a thicker formula that’s better for dry skin. Cassandra wouldn’t buy it though because it has fragrance and beeswax. It contains sunflower seed oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, calendula, and rosemary. So, it’s very moisturizing and soothing. However, it’s very comparable to Goop’s “Fix and Restore” balm which is $125.

Jennifer Lopez

Let’s talk about another example of celebrities being inconsistent with what they promote versus what they use – JLO and her skincare line. Jennifer Lopez credits her glowing skin to “olive oil and sunscreen,” and to be honest, the fact that she says this is very questionable. But in particular, she uses the L’Oreal Paris Revitalift SPF 30, a drugstore sunscreen. She’s used it multiple times, and based on the ingredients, the price is a lot better than the SPF 30 from her own line.

L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Bright Reveal SPF 30 Moisturizer

JLO has used the L’Oreal Revitalift for years, and it’s $20. This Revitalift formula has vitamin C, pro-retinol, and glycolic acid. Glycolic acid gives the skin hydration and exfoliation, and when combined with sunscreen, it not only gives your skin a glow. It keeps you protected from the sun.

Compare this to the JLO sunscreen that’s $55! The JLO “Big Screen SPF 30” and L’Oreal Revitalift SPF 30 have some of the same ingredients. One of the main differences though is that Jennifer Lopez’s brand is vegan and cruelty-free, but L’Oreal is not.

As for the JLO sunscreen ingredients, it doesn’t contain very potent actives like the L’Oreal sunscreen. It does contain licorice though. Licorice helps with dark spots and inflammation which is amazing. But truthfully, there are more affordable and effective vegan sunscreens.

Paula’s Choice, Beauty Pie, and a Korean brand called “SOMEBYMI” have some similar sunscreens with plant extracts as well. They are just at a more affordable price.

Olivia Rodrigo

Next, let’s talk about Olivia Rodrigo. Olivia Rodrigo uses The Ordinary, and she loves the niacinamide serum. Cassandra wonders if celebrities secretly use The Ordinary, but they don’t talk about it more because it’s not flashy. Olivia has said multiple times how much it helps her skin and nose. This one is under $10, but it’s very potent, and it comes in two sizes!

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - $6

Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland uses a wonderful skincare product for under $20, and it’s one of Cassandra’s favorites as too! She uses Black Girl Sunscreen. Black Girl Sunscreen is such a fantastic brand. If you want a sunscreen that does not flashback and works with your skin type, they have two different formulas. They have a matte SPF 30 formula for more oily skin, and they have a regular formula. Kelly Rowland uses the SPF 30, she says it's incredible. You can get this at Walmart or Target!

Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 - $18.99

Lana del Rey

Lana Del Rey doesn’t get her luscious lips from some $500 lip product. The product she uses can be found for under $6!

Rude Cosmetics Berry Juicy Lip Gloss - $24

Lana Del Rey seems to use the regular lip gloss from Rude Cosmetics, not just the plumping one. This is very good. Plus, it’s vegan and cruelty-free. For the price, you get a lot of product. And plus, they have so many beautiful colors. So, you don’t have to spend a lot to get Lana’s lip look.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber has always had a huge struggle with acne. We often look at celebrities and believe they don’t have acne. But, remember when Justin Bieber did Proactive ads? To this day though, he still has acne. He’s been open about this, and he’s talked about using Star Pimple Patches. These are affordable, and you can find them at Target.

Starface Pimple Patches - $10.99

His wife, Hailey Bieber ,has helped him with his skin too, and she uses products from other brands. Cassandra loves how she’s a brand owner, but she’s still authentic about using products that don’t belong to her line. Because in reality, no one simply uses one brand, even if it’s their own.

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton often talks about the “Diamond Dust” in her skincare line. This sounds very glamorous, but did you know she uses Johnson’s baby oil as well? Yes, Johnson’s Baby Oil. This is very low-quality and inexpensive. Also, it’s not cruelty-free. Biossance and the jojoba oil from Trader Joe’s are much better choices.

So, just because celebrities seem glamorous does not mean they’re always using “glamorous products.” If celebrities were to tell the truth about their skincare regimens, we’d see that accessible skincare is fabulous too! Moreover, it’d be clear that there are so many overpriced products. Oftentimes, celebrities promote products that are hundreds of dollars, and sometimes, don’t even work well. On top of that, there’s a chance they don’t even use the product. They might just be saying positive things for the sake of a promotion. So, if a celebrity testimonial grabs your attention, it’s important to know what the celebrity truly uses and whether the product is truly effective.
