Here are the best K-beauty Sun Sticks for Summer 2024! Sun sticks are super convenient, and they work amazingly for reapplication.
Sun sticks typically contain very little water, but this is the most hydrating sunscreen that Cassandra has ever tried. Now, if you have dry skin, you'll still want to use a hydrating serum as your base. Then, you can use this to lock in your skincare with SPF during the day. Likewise, it's very convenient for reapplication because it has such a dry touch.
Some even say this is like a mattifying version of the hyalu-cica water-fit sun serum, but personally, we wouldn’t call this product mattifying. It’s more of a skin finish that grips onto makeup really well.
This formula is not water-resistant or waterproof, but a major advantage of this product is that it has centella from Madagascar, a powerfully skin-calming ingredient. Plus, the centella is ethically sourced!
Beauty of Joseon Matte Sun Stick
On the other hand, this is the most mattifying sun stick that Cassandra has ever used - truly. She has very oily skin, but this cuts down the oil on her skin so much. If your skin is dry though, it might not be a fit. But, if you liked the Isntree purple protector, bingo! And if you layer it with the purple protector sunscreen, it will work oh so fabulously.
This sunstick has mugwort and camelia too. Both of these ingredients are used in Korea for blemish-prone skin.
As as a side note - did you know that mugwort also works for bodily inflammation when ingested (not this sunscreen though, please - the raw ingredient)?
When Cassandra was in Korea, she went to the red onion farm where the purple protector sunscreen's key ingredient is harvested. While she was there, the farmer gave her some mugwort tea, and it even helped with her period cramps!
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Stick - $30
This is fun and frilly so it may not be the best choice for sensitive skin. But, if you want glass, glowy skin, this is the one! And because it has a watermelon Jolly Rancher fragrance, using it is a fun and sensorial experience. Cassandra likes their Watermelon Glow Moisturizer too. It’s actually one of her tried and trues!
This niacinamide stick is even better than Glow Recipe’s niacinamide dew drops and their blueberry cleanser. In fact, it's probably one of the best things Glow Recipe has ever launched. And although Glow Recipe is technically an American brand with K beauty ethos, it will still give you that trademark glow! Thus, it's a great product to add sheen and apply over makeup!
This is Cassandra’s favorite, and it’s water-resistant for 80 minutes. You can use it on your face, neck, and chest. It has a half-moon shape. So, it’s very easy to apply to the contours of your face.
This feels like butter on the skin, and it’s one of the best sunscreens Cassandra has probably used. It’s great for all skin types, especially combo skin. If want something in between dewy and matte, this hits the nail on the head. It works well over makeup, under makeup, and under sunscreen.
